Getting started

What is RM's Percussion Lab?

RM's Percussion Lab is a Latin percussion composer with a built-in step sequencer. It gives you 15 percussion voices — congas, timbales, claves, agogo bells, shakers, and more — so you can build authentic Latin and percussion-driven patterns right on your device.

Do I need an account to use the app?

No. There is no sign-up, no login, and no account required. Just open the app and start creating. All your data stays on your device.

What devices are supported?

RM's Percussion Lab requires an iPhone or iPad running a supported version of iOS/iPadOS. Check the App Store listing for the minimum iOS version.

Creating patterns

How do I create a new pattern?

Tap the steps on the sequencer grid to activate them for each voice. Each row represents a different percussion instrument — tap a cell to toggle it on or off. Press play to hear your pattern loop.

What percussion voices are available?

The app includes 15 voices covering a full Latin percussion section: congas (multiple tones), timbales, claves, agogo bells (high and low), shakers, guiro, cowbell, and more. Each voice has its own row in the step sequencer.

Can I adjust the tempo?

Yes. Use the tempo control to set your BPM. You can also adjust swing to give your patterns a more natural, groovy feel that suits Latin rhythms.

How do I save a pattern?

Patterns are saved automatically as you work. You can name and organize your patterns so you can come back to them later.

Can I change the volume of individual voices?

Yes. Each percussion voice has its own volume and settings, so you can balance your mix — bring the congas forward, tuck the shaker back, or dial in the agogo bell exactly where you want it.

Features

Can I export my patterns?

Yes. You can export your percussion patterns to share them or use them in other music projects. Check the export options in the app for available formats.

Does the app work offline?

Yes. RM's Percussion Lab works entirely offline. No internet connection is needed to create, play, or save patterns. The only time you need connectivity is to download the app or manage your subscription.

Can I use my patterns in other music apps or a DAW?

You can export your patterns and import them into a DAW or other music production software for further production work.

Subscription & purchases

How does the subscription work?

RM's Percussion Lab offers premium features through auto-renewing subscriptions managed by Apple. Pricing and plan details are shown in the app.

How do I cancel my subscription?

On your device: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → RM's Percussion Lab. Cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends to avoid the next charge.

I paid but premium features aren't unlocked.

Try restoring your purchases from within the app. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID you used to subscribe. If the issue persists, email us.

Can I get a refund?

All purchases are handled by Apple. Request refunds at reportaproblem.apple.com — we can't process them on Apple's behalf.

Troubleshooting

The app is crashing or freezing.

Make sure you're running the latest version of the app and iOS. Try closing and reopening the app. If the issue continues, email us with your device model, iOS version, and what you were doing when it happened.

I'm not hearing any sound.

Check that your device is not in Silent Mode (flip the side switch on iPhone). Make sure the volume is up and no Bluetooth audio device is connected unintentionally. Also check that individual voice volumes within the app are not turned all the way down.

My patterns disappeared after an update.

Patterns are stored locally on your device. If you deleted and reinstalled the app, local data is removed. Unfortunately, without cloud backup, deleted local data cannot be recovered. We recommend exporting important patterns regularly.

Audio latency feels high.

Close other apps that may be using audio in the background. If you're using Bluetooth headphones, try wired headphones or the built-in speaker instead — Bluetooth introduces additional latency.
