Privacy Policy — Speed Weather

Effective date: June 28, 2026 · Last updated: June 28, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the Speed Weather app (the “App”), published by Speed, Inc. and powered by TapTap Performance (“we,” “us,” “our”), handles your information. We built Speed Weather to be privacy-first: there is no account, no login, and we operate no servers that store your personal data.

The short version

1. Information processed and why

a. Location

With your permission, the App uses your device location (precise or approximate) to fetch local weather and elevation, and compute distance to nearby tracks and center maps. Your coordinates are sent directly from your device to weather/elevation/radar providers (see Section 3) to retrieve a forecast. We do not store your location on any server we control. You can deny or revoke location access in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services; some features won't work without it. Weather coverage is currently U.S.-only.

b. Photos and camera

If you add a vehicle photo or scan a time slip, the App accesses your camera or photo library only for that action. Vehicle photos and time-slip images are stored locally on your device. Time-slip text recognition runs on-device using Apple's Vision framework; images are not uploaded to us.

c. Purchases

We use RevenueCat to manage in-app purchases and subscription status. When you buy or restore a purchase, RevenueCat processes purchase-transaction information and assigns a randomly generated app user ID (not your name or email) along with standard device/OS and approximate-region information. Apple processes the actual payment. We use this only to unlock the features you bought and to support restores. See RevenueCat's and Apple's privacy policies for their practices.

d. Notifications

If you allow notifications, the App may schedule local notifications (e.g., your best run window today). These are generated on your device; we don't send push notifications from a server.

e. Diagnostics

Apple may provide us aggregate, non-identifying crash and usage statistics through App Store Connect if you have opted into sharing with developers in iOS. We do not add our own analytics SDK.

2. What we do NOT do

3. Third-party services

The App sends requests to, or relies on, these services. Their handling of data is governed by their own policies:

4. Data retention and deletion

Because your content lives on your device, you control it. Deleting the App removes its locally stored data. You can also delete individual vehicles, runs, and tracks in the App. To reset purchase association, you can manage your subscription in your Apple ID settings; purchase records held by Apple/RevenueCat are governed by their policies.

5. Children's privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will address it.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live (e.g., California/CCPA, EU/UK GDPR), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. Because we don't maintain servers with your personal data, most of your data can be exercised directly on your device (delete content or the App). For purchase data, contact Apple or RevenueCat. You may also contact us at the address below.

7. Security

We rely on Apple's on-device protections for locally stored data and on encrypted (HTTPS) connections to third-party services. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
